Fundamentals of Cost Engineering is a skills based training workshop designed to introduce key roles that an effective Cost Engineer performs, within the project controls and management team.
Our goal is to teach the skills required by an effective Cost Engineer, how their role fits within the overall scope of the project team, and what deliverables they need to receive and deliver. We introduce how the Cost Engineer role changes throughout the project life cycle, from Initiation and Order of Magnitude through to Operations.
This training is suggested for all members of the project team, including Project Managers, who wish to better understand a Cost Engineer’s role.

- Work Breakdown structures;
- Cost Planning and Budgeting;
- Change Management;
- Progress management;
- Forecasting and analysis;
- The Commitment process;
- Contingency management and risk;
- Historical data.
During this session we look at key documents including bid input and analysis; weekly quantity and man-hour reports; the analysis of weekly progress reports; project services management; estimate to complete; incurred costs and actual costs; trends; contractor claims; reconcile with financial system; asset registers; and reporting.
